What Must I Do To Be Saved? |
|
|
Part 1 - Deal With the Issue of Sin Part 2 - Believe The Gospel REALISE- You must realise your need.
Are you aware that you need to be saved from sin? God's law, the 10 Commandments, is His standard by which all right and wrong is judged. Sin is our disobedience to God's commands and laws. Sin is in our very nature, a nature we inherited from the first man Adam*. Through sin in our lives we break Gods holy laws continually. Our sin separates us from God. We are helplessly unable to rectify our condition by anything that we do. If we die in our sins, separated from God, we shall not enter the kingdom of heaven, but be lost forever, for eternity, in hell.
Read the TEN COMMANDMENTS:
"And God spoke all these words, saying: 'I am the LORD your God… ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.' TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.' THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.' FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.' FIVE: 'Honour your father and your mother.' SIX: 'You shall not murder.' SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.' EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.' NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.' TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbour’s house; you shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbour’s.'
We have all broken these commands – commands which are holy, just and good.
ACKNOWLEDGE
- You must acknowledge therefore, in the light of God’s Word, that you are a sinner.
“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”. (Romans 3:23). “God be merciful to me a sinner” (Luke 18:13).
REPENT- You must see the awfulness of sin and turn from it.
“Against you, and you only, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in your sight” (Psalm 51:4). “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19). “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13:3).
CONFESS- Confess your sins to God, thinking back over the years to things that particularly come into your mind.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). “With the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:10).
FORSAKE- Being sorry for sin is not enough in itself. We must want to be done with it once and for all.
“Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord . . . for he will abundantly pardon” (Isaiah 55:7).
Go through these steps carefully. Think over these things seriously – look again at the scripture verses quoted and re-read them. Ask God to make these things clear to you.
