Receiving Christ as our personal Saviour is simply the first step on the Christian pathway. It is the start of a life with Him guiding us, protecting us, providing for us and helping us. It is not the end of our problems. On no occasion did the Lord Jesus promise an easy life to His followers, but we can look to Him for guidance and help in every situation. The Holy Spirit of God lives within every true Christian to make the presence of Jesus real, (see 1 Corinthians 6 v19), and He is present to strengthen and encourage us. Nor are we promised that we shall never face temptation! At times the battle will be severe but God is ready to help us to be victorious when we look to Him for strength. There will probably be failures at times as well as victories and there is so much to learn. Of course, once the initial step has been taken, there is a need to make progress in our relationship with Jesus on a day to day basis. The main points to note are as follows: - We need to make time every day to read the Bible. This will help us to learn more about our Saviour and how to live the Christian life. Some excellent booklets are available to help us with our daily Bible reading.
If you are a new Christian, please let us know. We will send you some basic bible teaching for you to read and learn more about God. - We need to make time for prayer every day. We must communicate with our Saviour and Lord if we are going to develop in our new found faith.
- We must tell others about what has happened to us, and give them the opportunity to learn for themselves about Jesus and His salvation.
- We must join a suitable local church where we can meet with other Christians for worship and further teaching.
