The Bible is still the most popular book in the world. A vast number of homes, especially in the west, will have a Bible in it. It might be one that a child was given as a gift in school or it may be one that a couple were given as a gift when they were married.
Often people will have an idea of what the Bible says about prayer, or forgiveness, or creation. They will argue about it and try to disprove what the Bible says talking about it with great authority. "The Bible says that if you pray .........." So why didn't God anwer my prayer when my dad left us, or my mum was ill or people were treating me so badly.
People think that they know what the Bible says but when you explore that, they actually have a vague memory of something they heard at a nativity play 20 years ago, or they heard said at a funeral. Very often though, they have never read the Bible for themselves.
If the Bible is the ultimate communication from an eternal God to the human race, is it reasonable to say that you know all it is really about? The main thing it says? When you haven't read it in 30 years - if at all.
The Bible may still be the most popularly owned book in the world but is it the most read?
If you have a Bible why not start reading it. Start with the fourth book in the New Testament, John's Gospel. This is an eye witness account of some of the things Jesus did when He was on the earth.
