The Final Judgement

We live in a world where people demand justice. Somebody has their house broken into, and the owner cries out for justice, a person is assaulted, a cry goes out for justice. Whatever the wrong done to a person, there will always be a demand for some kind of justice. This inherent longing inside of people for some kind of righting of wrongs is a result of our being made in the image of God (Genesis 1 v 27). If we see some great atrocity done, we would like the person responsible to pay for what they have done, and for the victim/s to get retribution.
Following this to its logical conclusion, above all those who have been wronged is God, who also has the right to demand justice. Since Adam and Eve disobeyed God all those years ago (Genesis 3v6), humankind have continually gone against their Creator and treated Him with utter contempt. The whole world is guilty before God (Romans 3 v 19).
This longing for justice comes from God, therefore He also demands justice against the victim, Himself. Sin is high treason against Almighty God, and everyone responsible must serve the sentence, death (Romans 6 v 23). The Bible tells us that we shall all stand before the Judgement seat of Christ and be given our sentence (Romans 14 v 10).
The Good News is that Jesus Christ, God's Son and God in human form, took upon Himself the punishment and paid the price that needed to be paid, death (1 Corinthians 15 v 3). By rising from the dead He shows us that God has accepted this payment, and we now have the option of accepting what Jesus has done or be willing to pay the price ourselves. We either stand with a clean record, or a lifetime of offences to accuse us.
Which way do you choose?
